Happy Holidays 2023

Sending holiday greetings from beautiful Lake Gaston. we want to wish you a happy Christmas season filled with love and happiness. Good health for the new year! We have had a busy year and can't believe it is December already! Time to get these cards out and settle in for our family celebrations.

Began the year off with a milestone birthdays for Geep and Brian!

Nancy traveled South to Florida and had a bucket list experience, swimming with the manatees.

Kim made Nancy's pickleball dreams come true! Got to see the pros play in Charlotte- Anna Leigh Waters won!!! She's 16 and phenomenal!  And...I got a signed ball!

We went to New England this July and spent great time with the family. It's never long enough!

Nancy celebrated her 50th High School Reunion! (When did we get so old?)

Had a wonderful summer on the lake. Jet Skiing and kayaking are favorite activities.

Wrapped up the year celebrating our grandson, Blane's wedding to his lovely wife Stephanie.

Looking back through our photos is a great way to see what fun we have living our best life here on beautiful Lake Gaston. We are so blessed to live in such a lovely place. We both have health challenges, but are doing our best to keep going. Brian is a bit limited with his mobility. It is difficult to travel far distances. Nancy is doing well. Still has a great response to the immunotherapy for her melanoma, but has frequent flares of arthritis which definitely interferes with her pickleball game. We wish you all the best for the holiday season and the new year!

                            love, ❤️ Brian and Nancy

Water Levels Very High. 2-4-2016

The water level is extremely high today. It has been at a much more normal level all week, but after the heavy rain yesterday (nearly 2 inches) and showers today, I have been watching it go higher all day. It has been very overcast and gray all day. So dark, you would have thought it was night. I ran outside this evening to take photos of the docks in the neighborhood. I had to edit them all so you could see, it was so dark!  Sorry Hendricks! I can't see your dock from here.

Here they are:

THE BIG STORM

The snow has begun to fall as I write this today. I will update and publish conditions throughout the day as I can.

HIGH WATER LEVELS

The Lake has been extremely high this fall and is at the top of or is flooding most riprap and docks around the cove. Here are some photos I took of various properties. We received an email from the Lake Gaston Association encouraging us to express our displeasure with the Army Corps of Engineers and their revised plans for lake levels here on our lake. We encourage you to write and send photos to encourage them to maintain the current plan and avoid the damage and flooding that comes with higher water levels. This is the address and email address of the Army Corps of Engineers. Mr. Eric Gasch (email: eric.k.gasch@usace.army.mil )U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Wilmington District69 Darlington Avenue Wilmington, NC 28403 Email me if you would like a copy of the letter from the LGA and/or the sample letter to write in protest of the changes.
